Why do I need a Certificate of Assumed Business Name?

You are required under Indiana Code to file an Assumed Business Name for a variety of different reasons.

Please refer to Indiana Code 23-15-1-1 to see which persons or entities should file a Certificate of Assumed Business Name. Some are required to record in the Recorder’s Office and some are only required to be filed with the Indiana Secretary of State. You can find more information on starting a business by visiting the Indiana Secretary of State.
